The open qualifiers for this year's DreamHack Winter event have come to an end, with eight teams progressing to the closed brackets.
The biggest talking point in the European qualifier was the elimination of Vitality in the last round by CIS team Syman despite a strong individual performance from star player Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut.
LeftOut, who are fielding Haakon "Radifaction" Tholo after Fabien "kioShiMa" Fiey was confirmed as a Cloud9 stand-in for BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen, were one of the top four finishers following a run that included victories over Monolith and x-kom.
The other two teams to make it through the open qualifier in Europe hail from Sweden: Red Reserve, who officially announced William "draken" Sundin as a permanent member on Friday, and x6tence Galaxy.
ScreaM's LeftOut through to the closed qualifier
Meanwhile in North America, the biggest shock was the forfeit defeat of third seed Singularity in the Round of 16 after seemingly arriving late for their match against Whatever It Takes.
The quarter-final stage of the tournament featured a mouth-watering Brazilian derby between FURIA and INTZ, with João "horvy" Horvath's side overcoming a 10-5 deficit to win the match and book a spot in the closed qualifier alongside TeamOne, Bravado and Vireo.pro.
The eight qualified sides will be joined by eight invitees in the closed qualifiers, which will be played out on Sunday, October 28. Both tournaments will feature a single-elimination, best-of-three bracket, with the winners earning spots at the DreamHack tournament.
